Chemical Peels

Image peels can be added to any facial or done as a stand-alone treatment. A consultation is required. Our peels range from low level to mid-level strength, utilizing salicylic, glycolic, lactic acid, and enzymes for treating conditions such as acne, aging skin and hyperpigmentation.

Acne/Beta Peel (acne grades 2, 3 & 4) This peel works by exfoliating dead skin. Best if done every 1 to 2 months. The service comes with and at home care kit.

Massages & FSA/HSA

More and more people are taking advantage of flexible savings accounts (FSA) or health savings accounts (HSA). Both types of accounts are a key part of an emerging system of consumer-driven healthcare and can save you money- tax-free-from each paycheck and use the funds toward your therapeutic massages. It’s important to make the most of the funds you have already allocated-especially in the case of FSAs because the funds are given back to your employer if the dollars aren’t used by the end of the calendar year.

Here’s how an FSA works. Usually, during the fourth quarter of the year, your employer conducts open enrollment, during which you plan how much money you will need to set aside for the following year’s medical expenses. When the new year starts, your designated funds are withdrawn from each paycheck in small increments and placed into a special account.

An HSA works in much the same manner but is tied to a High Deductible Healthcare Plan (HDHP). With an HSA, unused funds roll over to the next year and accumulate. Because these plans are funded with pretax dollars, you and your employer can save hundreds of dollars in federal, FICA and state taxes.

How do I know if my massage is eligible?

Massages can be a qualified medical expense as long as a physician recommends it “with” a written prescription. The IRS ruling states that medical care expenses must primarily be to alleviate or prevent a physical or mental ailment such as chronic fatigue, pain management and fibromyalgia, just to name a few.

First Things First

If you suffer from one of the conditions above or carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain, arthritis, diabetes, hypertension, anxiety, depression or stress, just pay a visit to your medical practitioner and set up massage as a qualifying expense. Let your doctor know that you have an FSA or HSA and you’d like to use some of your funds toward massage for treatment or prevention of your condition.

Your physician will need to provide three pieces of information on the prescription:

Medical necessity: why you need massage therapy (example: to relieve back pain)
Frequency: number of sessions per month (example: minimum of two sessions per month)
Duration: length of treatment (example: 12 months)

Once you’ve obtained the prescription, file it away in case you are ever asked to back up the expense. You don’t have to bring the prescription to Adara, but you should bring your FlexCard (if you have one) to pay for your next visit. If you don’t have a FlexCard, simply pay for your massages and turn in your receipts for reimbursement. Please be aware, you cannot include tips or pay for your entire membership upfront.

Plan for Next Year

During the fourth quarter is when many people designate how much money to set aside in their FSA for the next year. In your financial planning, don’t forget to include the cost of your massages in the total amount. You also can set aside money for massage therapy for a spouse, if he or she has a qualifying medical condition.

Deposit and Cancellation/Reschedule Policy

Individual client appointment cancellation: We require a 48-hour notice* for any appointment cancellation. Please understand that when you forget or cancel your appointment without notice, our service providers miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time with guests awaiting services on our waiting list. Our appointments are confirmed, in advance, via email and text because we know how hectic day-to-day life can be for all of us. As stated in the Payment Terms and Conditions, any service canceled less than 48 hours before the appointment*, including weekends, will be subject to a cancellation fee equal to your 50% deposit. For existing clients with a card on file, 50% of the service fee will be charged to the card on file. As a gesture of understanding, we will only charge 50% of the service total to the card on file if this is your first cancellation with less than 48 hours’ notice.* Thereafter, we will charge 100% of the service total to the card on file. A missed appointment (a.k.a., a no-show) will result in 100% of the service total being charged to the card on file. As the cardholder booking or placing the deposit for individual or group services, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to Adara Spa’s Payment Terms and Conditions.

Gift certificates/cards expire one year after the date of purchase. Unredeemed gift certificates/cards are presumed abandoned three years after issue. North Carolina General Statute §116B-53(c)(8). Promotional/charitable gift certificates/cards provided by Adara (at no cost) expire after sixty days (60). Gift certificates/cards cannot be exchanged for cash.
